It's always story first at Joe Films.
Infamous filmaker Dan Mace approached us to create a full Brand Identity for his new multidisciplinary film studio. 
– Including more traditional corporate Identity tools.
Our 'Story First' Identity concept was exemplified in a simple yet very effective visual. By switching the relationship of the traditional asterisk in relation to the footnote, we made the star symbol the focus element whilst the logo word-mark lives as a secondary element.

We are literally putting the story first. ​​​​​​​
As an ode to the human/spontaneous edge of the Brand, the bold, custom logo was made using old-school hand lettering processes. Rough edges and calculated imperfection further supports the spirit of the team leader, who lives by the saying 'Do First, Ask Forgiveness Later.'

Our colour palette is inspired by the soft desaturated blacks & whites of true documentary style films juxtaposed with a fresh, bold & confident orange.
The offline branding uses the star symbol as a powerful graphic element. When it came to online use, we knew that an animated version would be the way to go, especially for Instagram and the many films they produce.​​​​​​​
Regarding the typography, we found the perfect compliment to our custom, hand-made Wordmark at the Displaay Type Foundry - Greed. We loved the crafted yet simple aesthethic of the font but also the story behind it, which ties in effortlessly with the film milieu.

'The Greed typeface was originally co-created by Displaay (Martin Vácha) and  Anymade Studio (Petr Cabalka & Filip Nerad) as a bespoke typeface for the Polansky Gallery.'
